We worked on Complex Network analysis and its applications to recommendation systems and information spreading in social networks, namely scale free weighted networks and fuzzy graphs – see attached paper.

Beside library recommendations, we have also applied complex networks tools with Markov chain algorithms to predict costumers churn at Vodafone Portugal. The project involved mapping the whole networks of CDR (call details records), consisting of above 6 millions accounts, over 6 months. It was supported by Vodafone Portugal, and our solution was the best among 5 international competitors, like Kxen and SAS.

The methods used in this work are also being applied on a Brazilian company (Graph Monitor) to explore Facebook pages and recommend content to users.
